YFC – Seeley Lake Challenge Triathlon/Duathlon
August 12 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
Come, experience the beauty of Seeley Lake while participating in our family friendly Triathlon/Duathlon races. Furthermore, there is a race for everyone in the family (600 & 300 yd swim triathlons, duathlon, kids triathlon, adaptive triathlon) as well as a spectator area for the supporting family members and friends.
We use the standard Triathlon/Duathlon men and women age groups, and award medals to the top three in each race group. We also welcome teams of two or three and time them as a unit for each race with medals awarded. The kids triathlon is divided into two age groups (9 and under and 10-12) as well as boys and girls. We give medals for the first three places of each age/gender category and also participation medals for the rest. In addition, Triathlon/Duathlon races for adaptive racers can be organized in conjunction with that group, also with medals awarded.
.These family friendly triathlon/duathlon races started as the Senior Project of a Seeley Swan High School student. Now sponsored by Youth For Christ and using the proceeds to keep teenagers focused on healthy activities and lifestyles.
Our new running trail was a great success in 2016, by using the adjacent trail system. The buoy markers are highly visible with different colors for each swim consequently making it easy for everyone.
There is a ‘newbie’ meeting at 8:30am that will review the race and allows time for questions and concerns. The long swim and duathlon start following the 9am race meeting on beach. The short swim start follows just a couple minutes later. The kids race starts about 11am, allowing for the supporting adults to be part of the experience.
Be sure to plan on staying for the BBQ and awards ceremony, complete with award stands. Our goal is to put on a well run race, where consequently everyone has fun. Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. None is too trivial and answering them will make your experience more fulfilling.
